Two (2) classroom meetings will give the photographer an expanded working knowledge of equipment and techniques needed to create fantastic close-up photographs. We will cover how to get close to the subject, lighting considerations, how to stabilize your camera, depth of field, compositional elements, and more.

A photographic assignment and field trip will provide the student with an opportunity to practice the tools and techniques learned in class and will allow the instructor to observe and improve student’s techniques.

Students are expected to provide their own camera and have some working knowledge of basic photographic principles.

No special close-up equipment is required for this class. A limited supply of such equipment will be available for students to use.

Richard Dischler, Northern California's Novatron and F.J. Westcott Representative, will be conducting this workshop in a "hands on" format. Be prepared for half a day of table top photography and half a day of portrait photography.

This workshop will look into the issues and resolutions for how the digital camera reacts to various lighting situations. Advanced tools and techniques will be presented that will benefit even the professional photographer. The Basic Studio Lighting Workshop (DP104) is a prerequisite for this course.
